Girl Scout Cookie Rant

Okay, I'm a little downtrodden today.

Girl Scouts is fun for Connie and the rest of the girls. I want her to do well in it and be supportive, but girl scout cookie sales - our first one - started today. Connie's personal goal is 350 boxes of cookies. That's fairly optimistic considering that as a SAHM I (1) don't have a workplace to take the order sheet and (2) many of my friends are also girl scout moms! Dh isn't allowed to sell at his work, so he won't be getting her any sales that way. Each of us only has one sibling so it isn't as if we have a huge sales base there.

According to the rules, we are not allowed to do door-to-door sales outside of people we already know. So, what are our options outside of our immediate neighbors and family? I'm hoping that we get a cookie booth assignment, but I'm not counting on it. I'm not even sure when we're supposed to find out about that. One of my neighbors even said that he plans on buying from one of his co-workers kids as always! Must be nice to have co-workers (at least in this case). Sounds to me like another way to discriminate against the lowly SAHM. hmph. I guess I'll have to eat GS cookies instead of bon-bons while putting my feet up and watching soaps all day!

[end of rant]

Get grandma and grandpa to buy a bunch or have 'em take the forms to school with them! Remind them that they ahve a big freezer to store them in! ;)

You should talk to the ACLU about how frequently SAHMs are discriminated against and how much hardship these problems cause. Ya never know where it will go! ;)

You can go door to door, she just can't be alone!!! Take my route, we did sell more then 200 cookies last year!!

Jojo is right, we have a young girl who sells to us every year and her Mom is standing right at her shoulder each time she knocks.

I totally feel your pain though, we have the same problem. All those stupid fundraisers and no one to sell to!

Sheesh - if the shipping wouldn't be as much as the cookies, I'd suggest selling them to US, your blog readers...
